HMS Queen Elizabeth

AHT Typhoon has been contracted by Augustea Anchor Marine Transportation Ltd. to tow Boa Barge 35, loaded with the fore ship section of the new British aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, from Portsmouth to Rosyth

HMS Queen Elizabeth will be the first of the Royal Navy's two new super aircraft carriers and is scheduled to enter service in 2016.

Construction of HMS Queen Elizabeth began in 2009. Her assembly is taking place in the Firth of Forth at Rosyth Royal Dockyard. The carrier will be built from nine blocks built in six UK shipyards in Glasgow, Appledore, Rosyth, Hebbrun, Portsmouth and at Birkenhead.

The tow has been redelivered to local tugs at Rosyth following a smooth four days towage operation.
